Casa Kalika,Punta Mita, Mexico

Stress and the outside world melt away after you step through the giant wooden doors of the 10,000-square-foot Casa Kalika, set within the gated community at Four Seasons Punta Mita on Mexico’s Pacific Coast. The airy villa exudes a laid-back sophistication, thanks to impeccably designed interiors that use natural elements like stone and wood. All of the five bedrooms are beautifully appointed with paintings by Mexican artists, Philippe Starck furniture and completely retractable walls to let in ocean breezes.
Amenities like an infinity pool, access to two private beach clubs and a staff that caters to every request round out the experience. Days here are spent in the shaded daybed on the deck, taking in the sunset from the rooftop terrace or reading a book in a comfy chaise while water drips tranquilly down the stone waterwall.

Access to two beach clubs, tennis courts and two Jack Nicklaus golf courses,Complimentary use of a six-person golf cart,A full-service staff of four is included: butler, cook, housekeeper and concierge,Balinese decor is accentuated by modern, Philippe Starck furniture,Private pool,Air conditioning in all rooms

Eat. All of the restaurants at the Four Seasons are excellent. Try Aramara for modern Mexican cuisine in a white tablecloth setting and Bahia for grilled meats and seafoods. Ketsi, the poolside eatery, is run by superstar chef Richard Sandoval.

Golf. The 200-acre Jack Nicklaus-designed Pacifico Golf Course at the Four Seasons is rated one of the best in the world. Eight holes border the whale-packed ocean waters, including the famous Hole 3B — the "Tail of the Whale” — on a small natural isle just offshore.

Surf. Because of Punta Mita’s sometimes rocky shoreline and ever-changing currents and winds, the best way to check out the area’s fabled surf spots is via a small boat with a knowledgeable guide. Mictlan Surf School, in the village of Punta de Mita, can hook you up with both.

Snorkel. Teeming with manta rays, octopus, turtles, dolphins and whales, the national parklands of the Marietas Islands are a snorkeler’s dream. A boat tour there is a must.

Ride. Who says you have to be in vaquero country to ride a horse? At theRancho Mi Chaparrita, just north of the peninsula, you can step into the stirrups for a gallop along the beach.

Fish. Punta Mita is famous in the sportfishing world for its sailfish, marlin, amberjack, mahimahi and huge “cow tuna,” which have been known to approach 400 pounds. You’ll find a number of charter companies in Punta de Mita, including the excellent English-speaking Y-Knot Fishing and Tours.
