It's young Pax Jolie-Pitt's first visit to his home country of Vietnam for four years.
So it's no surprise the boy was desperate to stay longer after his mother Angelina Jolie tried to persuade him to board the plane.
Pax, who was adopted from an orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City in 2007, looked sad as he walked with his mother and older brother Maddox through Con Dao island airport.
With Brad Pitt having left Vietnam two days ago to promote his new film in South Korea, Jolie has been left with their six children.
Arriving at the airport this morning, she put her four youngest children Shiloh, five; Zahara, six; and twins Vivienne and Knox, three; on the plane, before taking her eldest boys to chat to the airport staff.
She told them: 'Con Dao is very beautiful. My kids like the island very much. We hope to return here in the future.
'
But it looked like Pax was either suffering from shyness or perhaps wanted to spend a bit longer in his native country.
The family have been in the South East Asian nation for a week after a whirlwind trip to Japan for their father Brad Pitt's Tokyo premiere on Moneyball.
Although based on the Con Sao island for most of the holiday, the Jolie-Pitts have also been spotted in Ho Chi Minh City on their first day.
The couple have been staying at a $3,000-a-night oceanside villa at the five-star luxury Six Senses Resort on the island.
On Sunday, Jolie and Pitt ventured out of the hotel to pay a visit to the nearby Con Dao Prison.
The holiday is the first time they have returned to Vietnam since Jolie adopted Pax.
Pax was just three-year-old and named Pham Quang Sang when Jolie adopted him from an orphanage.
The couple, who have three biological children and three adopted, have always said they want their children to remain in touch with their home countries.
Maddox, seven, was adopted from an orphanage in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Jolie runs the charitable Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation which supports orphans in the country.
And daughter Zahara, who was adopted from Ethiopia in 2005 has been back to visit her home country with her mother saying she planned to build an AIDS clinic in the country.
